Ganesh Kumar and Kadannappally likely to be inducted as ministers by month end, final decision on Dec 24

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is hinted that K B Ganesh Kumar and Kadannapally Ramachandran will be inducted as ministers soon. Ganesh Kumar is likely to get transport department and Kadannapally, the port department. The two will attend as ministers in the Nava Kerala Sadas to be held in Ernakulam on January 1 and 2.

The swearing-in date and portfolios of the new ministers will be known at the Left Front meet on December 24. There was an indication earlier that the swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 29. Governor Arif Muhammad Khan's time will be sought before taking a final decision on the date.

Soon after taking the final decision, the present Transport Minister Antony Raju and Ports Minister Ahmed Devarkovil will submit their resignations. Usually, the same departments are given to those replacing them. Kadannapally and Ganesh Kumar have previously held the ports and transport departments.

Following the demise of CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, the Nava Kerala Sadas scheduled to be held in Tripunithura, Kunnathunad, Piravam and Thrikakkakara constituencies of Ernakulam had to be postponed. Instead, the Nava Kerala Sadas will be held in these constituencies on January 1 and 2. The cabinet reshuffle scheduled to take place on November 20 was delayed due to the chief minister's decision to allow the present ministers to continue till the end of the Nava Kerala Sadas.
