KOZHIKODE: The senate meet of the Calicut University will be held today. The first meeting of 18 members nominated by Governor Arif Muhammad Khan is being convened today. The Senate meeting will be held at 10:30 am in the university campus.

There are indications that nine of the Governor's nominees may be blocked by the SFI, which has accused them of being Sangh Parivar supporters. The rest of the nominees are representatives of the CPM, Congress and League. In view of the SFI protest, police security will be beefed up in the university today.

Meantime, KSU is staging a march in the capital today to protest police’ high handedness against the Navkerala Sadas protestors. The march will be staged to the police headquarters. The march will be staged at 10.30 m. KSU demanded action against the chief minister's gunman who beat up the protesters.

The secretariat march staged by the Youth Congress yesterday in protest against the police brutality that beat the workers who waved black flags against the Nava Kerala Sadas Yatra ended in a clash with the police.
