THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An additional fund of Rs 7.86 lakh was allocated for the Onasadya conducted four months ago by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The additional amount was sanctioned on December 13. It was made by easing treasury regulations.
Rs 19 lakh was sanctioned on November 8 for the sadya held on August 26 at the assembly building. With the granting of additional amount, the total cost of the Onasadya came up to Rs 26.86 lakh. The public administration department's RTI reply recently came saying that Rs 19,00,130 was spent for the sadya and paid for the hotel. Meantime, the government's answer to the question under the RTI is that the number of people who participated in the Onasadya is accurate.
The private catering establishment served a 65-course meal including five types of payasams. Speaker A N Shamseer also hosted a feast in the assembly. In addition to this, the chief minister arranged a feast for the civic leaders. As part of the New Year celebrations, the chief minister is hosting a feast at Mascot Hotel on January 3.
