'Touched private parts inside toilet'; 500 students accuse Haryana professor, write to PM Modi

CHANDIGARH: As many as 500 female students from a Haryana college have come up against their faculty member alleging sexual misconduct. The female students filed a complaint against the faculty member of Chaudhary Devi Lal University in Sirsa. The students demanded the immediate suspension of this faculty member and asked for a detailed inquiry into the matter led by a retired high court judge. The students have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar raising this issue.

A copy of the letter was also handed over to National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Vice Chancellor Dr Ajmer Singh Malik, Home Minister Anil Vij and the media.

According to the allegation, the accused faculty member summoned a student to the office but took her to the toilet to later touch her private parts. The complaint also states that the faculty member threatened students if they moved ahead to complain about the matter. The university registrar informed that the complaint of the students has been received and the CCTV footage of the office has been handed over to the police. The police informed that the investigation is in progress and the statements of the students and the teacher have been recorded.
