BHUBANESWAR: India has successfully test-fired a new version of its indigenously developed Akash missile. The sophisticated, fast and accurate missile is capable of countering airborne threats.
It was launched at 10.30 am from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The missile was tested against a high-speed, low-altitude drone. DRDO said that the target was successfully identified and tested. A video of the missile launch was also shared.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Akash missile will strengthen the air defense sector. It is indigenously designed and developed by DRDO.
