Sexually assaulted and impregnated 14-year-old girl who came to hospital as her mother's bystander; youth arrested

WAYANAD: Police have arrested a 21-year-old Karnataka native who sexually assaulted and impregnated a 14-year-old girl. The arrested person has been identified as Kodagu Mathikad native Manivarnan. The victim was a girl who came to the Wayanad Medical College as a bystander to her pregnant mother. Manivarnan had reached the hospital in connection with his wife's delivery.

After getting acquainted with the girl at the hospital, Manivarnan sexually assaulted her after luring her. The incident related to the case took place in September 2023. The police conducted an investigation after it was found that the girl was impregnated by Manivarnan. Following this, the accused was arrested. He has been booked under various sections of the POCSO Act.
