MUMBAI: On the night before the Prana Prathistha in Ayodhya, violence marred the festive spirits in Mumbai’s Mira Road area. Devotees of Ram on a procession through the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road in Thane were attacked by a mob as stones were pelted at the procession. Even one among the devotees suffered a serious injury after getting stabbed. The issue went like wildfire and in no moment it was discussed among all national television channels.

Videos of the incident appeared on social media platforms while many sneered at the administration for giving a free run for such perpetrators. Taking note of the issue, Deputy CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis assured about taking stringent action against the culprits involved.

It just took one day for Fadnavis to walk his talk, as bulldozers entered the streets of Nayanagar on Mira Road to remove the illegal encroachment on the roadside. The structures were razed down by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation on demand from the Maharashtra government. It is said that the stone pelting and attack came mostly from the tents placed on the roadside.

Earlier, 13 people were arrested for pelting stones at the Ram temple procession held in the area. 24 people were injured in the incident. As of now, heavy police have been deployed in the Mira Road area fearing retaliation from the two groups.
