THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Regular chain snatchers Meenakshi and Mari came to Pongala this time as well. However, both of them were caught by the police pretty soon. The two were nabbed by the police soon after they snatched the necklace of a devotee who had come to perform Attukal Pongala. It was the Vanchiyoor police that arrested Thoothukudi natives Meenakshi (34) and Mari (33) in no time.

Both Meenakshi and Mari tried to escape after snatching the necklace of Pattom native Shyamala, who was waiting to buy a bag distributed by Jayalakshmi Textiles after the Pongala. Following this, Shyamala complained to the police. Soon, the police conducted an inspection during which the suspects were found under suspicious circumstances. Upon examining the two, the necklace was discovered. Both Meenakshi and Mari are regular suspects in the necklace theft cases. Vanchiyoor police said that further investigation is going on about the two. The accused were arrested by a police team led by CI T Rajesh Kumar.
