Passengers jump onto tracks after hearing that fire broke out in train; 12 people killed after being hit by another train

RANCHI: In a tragic incident, 12 people were crushed to death after a train ran over passengers near Kala Jharia in Jharkhand. Several people were injured. The incident took place this evening near Kala Jharia in Jamtara-Karmatand district. The accident took place after the passengers of the Anga Express going to Bhagalpur jumped onto the tracks after hearing that a fire broke out in the train. Soon after they jumped onto the tracks, they were run over by another train.

Many of the injured people are in critical condition. Officials said that the rescue operation is progressing. Reports are claiming that the rescue operation is being hampered due to a lack of light in the area. Railways has announced an investigation into the incident
