Came drunk to fly plane; action against Delta Airlines pilot 

LONDON: Action taken against the pilot who reached drunk to fly the plane. The Delta Airlines pilot was sentenced to ten months in prison. The court sentenced Lawrence Russell (63), the pilot of the Boeing 767 flight from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, to New York.

The incident took place on June 16, 2023. Russell was caught when he reached baggage control an hour and a half before takeoff. Two liquor bottles were also found in the bag in Russell's hand. A breathalyzer test revealed that he was drunk.

A blood sample of Russell's showed that he had drunk more than twice the legal limit. Lawrence Russell pleaded guilty in court. The 63-year-old was sentenced by the Edinburgh Court in Scotland.

The court also observed that he was negligent in the safety of passengers and staff. Lawrence Russell has two previous cases against him for drunk driving in the US.
