Rahul attends Wayanad roadshow, visits Mananthavady Bishop House and accepts Bishop's petition for Wayanad

KALPETTA: Congress leader and UDF candidate from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi said that Malayalam is not only a language but also a culture. He was speaking at a roadshow from Assumption Junction to Kottakunnu in Wayanad. Rahul also said that Modi is trying to implement the RSS policy of one language, one culture, one leader. This is Rahul's second visit to Wayanad after giving the nomination. Rahul Gandhi reached the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border village of Talur at 10:10 am. He came to campaign for DMK's A Raja, the INDIA Front candidate in the Nilgiris. CPM and CPI are constituent parties here.

Rahul's helicopter that took off from Kannur Airport landed at the temporary helipad at the Nilgiri Arts and Science College grounds under the control of the Tamil Nadu Police. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal was also present with him. Congress leaders from Tamil Nadu and Wayanad garlanded Rahul. T Siddique MLA, IC Balakrishnan MLA and Wayanad DCC President ND Appachan welcomed Rahul.

Rahul walked into the crowd of more than a thousand children who were waiting in the happiness garden of the college. Even girls competed for his handshake. Selfies followed. Then he went to Talur St. Mary's church hall and had a discussion with the tea farmers.

Mananthavadi Bishop's petition for Wayanad

When Rahul reached the Kerala border, which was 500 meters away, hundreds of people came to meet him. On Rahul's way to Sultan Bathery, huge crowds were waiting for him on both sides of the road. Rahul participated in the road show from Assumption Junction to Kottakunnu. Rahul also visited the Mananthavady Amalotbhava Matha pilgrimage centre where the re-consecration is taking place. Later Rahul visited Mar Jose Porunnedom at Mananthavady Bishop House. Kozhikode Diocese Bishop Dr Varghese Chakkalakal and Mananthavady Diocese Auxiliary Bishop Dr Alex Tharamangalam were also present in the Bishop House. The bishop gave a three-page petition to Rahul regarding the issues of Wayanad. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan was also with Rahul. The road show had only balloons instead of party flags.
