MUMBAI: Malayalee players Sajana Sajeevan and Asha Shobhana have been included in the Indian women's cricket team. Both of them have been named in the Indian squad for the five-match Twenty20 series on the tour of Bangladesh, thanks to their excellent performances in the recently concluded Women's Premier League (WPL).
Sajana Sajeevan plays for Mumbai Indians, while Asha Shobhana represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in WPL. The duo's impressive performances in the WPL brought them into the national spotlight.
Meanwhile, Minnu Mani, another Malayali player, could not find a place in the national team. Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the Indian Women's cricket team. Smriti Mandhana is the vice-captain.
