ANGAMALI: A man used a spare key to drive away an Innova car, kept at the station premises in connection with a case, and was caught after a chase that lasted several kilometres. The arrested Sirajuddin (43) of Chalambattu House in Malappuram's Thirunavaya left the station premises with the vehicle at 10 pm on April 15. He told the police officer present that the case related to the vehicle in police custody is over and he is taking the vehicle. The vehicle sped out, bypassing the officer who tried to stop him. The police chased him and took the vehicle back into their custody within an hour with the help of Puthukkad police.

On April 13, the vehicle was brought to the police station following an argument with natives of Tamil Nadu on MC Road. Some time ago, Tamil Nadu natives came to Kerala after seeing the advertisement of Swift car for sale online and bought the vehicle for Rs.2.4 lakh. It was said that the ownership can be changed when the balance is paid. This vehicle was stolen from Tamil Nadu. Recently Tamil Nadu natives got in touch again after seeing an advertisement online for Innova for sale. The group reached the MC road with the vehicle. It was the same team that gave them the Swift car earlier. Those who came from Tamil Nadu told the police that they approached them knowing that. The police reached the place after hearing the commotion and brought the people involved and the car to the station. The gang member tried to take this Innova car kept in the station premises. Inspector P Lalkumar, SI NS Roy, CPO Ajitha Thilakan and others were in the police team.
