NEW DELHI: Air India on Friday decided to suspend all services connecting Israel’s financial capital of Tel Aviv. The Tata group-owned carrier flights will not fly to Tel Aviv until the 30th of this month. The decision comes amidst growing unrest in west Asia and the fear of retaliation from Iran.
Hitherto, Air India had four weekly services connecting Tel Aviv with India. Air India resumed its services to Israel only on March 3, which had been suspended in the wake of the Israeli-Hamas attack.
Meanwhile, the company have also decided to give a one-time waiver for cancellation charges for passengers who have already booked tickets to the country. On Friday, Israel in a surprise drone attack targeted Iran’s city of Isfahan. This is viewed as a retaliation to Tehran’s offensive on the 13th of April.
Fras news from Iran admitted to hearing loud noises from the city of Isfahan but didn’t confirm it for any drone attacks. Isfahan province is a critical region of Iran where the Natanz nuclear facility is located. Iran maintains that the drone strike did not affect the nuclear facility. According to reports, several flights through Iran’s airspace have been diverted.
