Brutal torture for newlywed wife: Rahul received help from police to escape 

KOZHIKODE: The police have intensified the investigation into the incident where a newlywed wife was brutally tortured by her husband. The investigation was intensified after it was alleged that the accused Rahul P Gopal received help from the police to escape. The investigating officials will soon question Rahul's mother and sister. Rahul's friend Rajesh was arrested the other day. The investigation team believes that a police officer, who is a friend of Rajesh, was the one who helped Rahul to escape. The investigation team is currently examining the call records of this Civil Police Officer.

Earlier, the bride and her family had alleged that Rahul had received help from the Pantheeramkavu police.

Meanwhile, Rahul P Gopal's mother Usha and sister Karthika filed an anticipatory bail application in the Kozhikode District Court. The court will consider the application on Monday. Feroke Assistant Commissioner Saju K Abraham, the head of the investigation team, had issued a notice to both of them asking them to appear for questioning on Friday. Usha, who informed the police that she could not attend questioning due to ill health, is undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital.
