NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened up about the biggest allegation that he faced in his political life. In an interview to a news agency, Modi said that the biggest allegation he faced in his political career was that he owned 250 pairs of clothes. He added that it was Congress leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Amarsinh Chaudhary who first raised this allegation against him.
Modi said that he countered the allegation by taking up this matter at a public rally. "I asked the people whether they wanted a chief minister who stole Rs 250 crore or one who had 250 pairs of clothes. The people of Gujarat responded in one voice that a chief minister with 250 pairs of clothes will be fine. After that, the opposition has never shown the courage to raise such an allegation against me," Modi said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister said that he has never uttered a word against minorities and that the BJP has never acted against them.
"The opposition is playing appeasement politics. I criticized the vote bank politics of the Congress. Congress is working against the Constitution. Ambedkar and Nehru were against the implementation of reservation on the basis of religion," he added.
