Filming of Ranbir Kapoor's 700 cr movie on Ramayana put on hold

A big-budget movie based on Ramayana, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi playing Ram and Sita, was a major news in cine industry. Unfortunately, after shooting for over 2 months, the project has been put on hold due to a copyright case being filed against the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film. The makers had planned to release the first part of the movie for Diwali of next year.

The budget of the movie is said to be over 700 crores. Madhu Mantena who was the first producer of the film ended up backing out of the movie. The continuation of the shoot without paying the liabilities and compensation to Madhu Mantena had further led to controversy. Reports suggest that it was because of this, a notice was sent to stop the shooting of the film. Close associates informed that the details of the notice is being studied and that they expect shooting to resume within a few weeks.

There is a very good chance that because of this stoppage, the schedule of the actors might clash. Ranbir Kapoor had given dates to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the movie Love and War towards the end of the year. Sunny Deol who is playing Hanuman in the movie also has a movie preparing to release at the end of the year. It is reported that the Ravan to Ranbir’s Ram will be Kannada superstar Yash. However, no official information has been released about this.

The film is jointly produced by one of the country’s leading production company Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Kannada superstar Yash’s Monster Mines Creations. They intend to release the movie in 3 different parts. Prominent roles are being played by not just actors from Bollywood but also from other industries. Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh are the others who are playing prominent roles in the movie.
