Truecaller can detect and combat voice call scams, this is how

truecaller

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Truecaller is coming up with an artificial intelligence (AI) call detector to combat fake calls using AI-generated voices. Scams imitating voices of relatives and old friends are on the rise. Voice impersonation scams use Deepfake to accurately clone everything from social media videos to speech patterns and pronunciation of words. The new version of Truecaller has a mechanism to detect this. On receiving a suspicious call, users can click on a dedicated button within the Truecaller interface which will scan the voice and determine whether it is a deepfake or a human voice. If they are fake, the number will be blocked. The is currently only available to Android customers in the US and will be launching in India soon.

Assistant in your own voice

Truecaller had introduced a feature that enables users to use their own voice to answer calls using an AI-powered assistant. For this, one can record their own voice in Truecaller and turn on the voice assistant feature. The voice can be heard, but there are concerns that if the phone is hacked, it can leak the user's voice and information stored in the app.

Truecaller is a Swedish calling app launched in 2009. It has 40 crore monthly customers worldwide.
