NEW DELHI: Political strategist Prashant Kishor has decided not to continue with election predictions after his LS poll prediction debacle. Prashant was talking with a national TV channel when he announced his decision. Prashant’s prediction for the 2024 LS polls went awry, subjecting him to further criticism from sceptics.
Before the elections, Prashant Kishor predicted that BJP would mirror the performance of 2019 and said the saffron party would surpass the 300-seat mark in any adverse condition. In one interview, Prashant even went overboard predicting BJP to win at least 370 seats. Much to the dismay, BJP ended up with a fractured mandate of only 240 seats.
“Politicians like me and those who predicted the results through opinion polls have faced a big setback. All of our predictions were wrong. We are ready to accept this. I will be cautious enough not to repeat this mistake in future and will not hereafter predict the number of seats of the winning party. The results revealed that my assessments were wrong. The results showed a difference of about 20 per cent from what I had predicted. As a political strategist, I understand the big erroneous work that came from my side and I will surely take note of this.” Said Prashant.
Prashant Kishor had also predicted that the BJP to make a big breakthrough in the southern and eastern states in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He predicted that the BJP would increase its vote share in Tamil Nadu.
