Actress and social media influencer Amrutha Nair recently shared a troubling experience she had with the school where she studied. Initially invited as a guest for the centenary celebrations of the school she studied, Amrutha was informed just a day before the event that she was not qualified to share the stage with a minister. This abrupt decision left her feeling humiliated and disrespected.
Amrutha’s post
"Respect, consideration, giving value to a person. When does a person earn this? I believe it comes when one succeeds in their field. I may not have reached great heights, but I know that at least a few people recognize me through my work as an actress and social media influencer. It's painful to realize that I didn't receive even a semblance of that love and consideration from my hometown.
I was genuinely happy and proud when invited as a guest at the centenary celebration of my school. I set aside all my commitments to participate in the event. However, the night before, one of the organizers called to inform me that I was removed from the event. What hurt the most was the reason given—that I was not qualified to sit on the platform with the minister.
I don't understand why an artist from the same place cannot share the stage with a representative of the people. My habit is to keep my worries to myself and move on. However, I felt the need to share this incident with everyone. We should not belittle anyone, even if we cannot praise them. Especially when a school, which imparts good and upright habits to children, celebrates its centenary. With tears, I extend my best wishes as a humble artist who was left out."
The post quickly garnered significant attention on social media, with many rallying in support of Amrutha. She also shared a picture with Transport Minister Ganesh Kumar. Amrutha expressed her gratitude to the minister, saying, "I am grateful to the honourable Minister Ganesh sir for supporting me against those who said I was not qualified to sit with him on the stage."
