'Wolverine lite'; Vintage photo of Malayalam's legendary actor goes super viral

Vintage photos and polaroids of famous actors often hit social media generating awe and discussions among netizens. Young actors are often intrigued to share their old photos from school and college on social media to amuse the netizens. However, an old photo of one veteran Malayalam actor is doing the rounds of social media, leaving most people in disbelief.

In a Hugh Jackman-esque beard setting, the actor enacts the Wolverine traits in the rare photo. Most people will have to take a second look to recognize the actor. The man in the white shirt and trendy sideburn is Malayalam’s own Thilakan. The rare photo was taken during the actor's trip to Kashmir during college days.

Many people are quoting ‘Wolverine’ and are mentioning in a quirky way that it was indeed Thilakan who gave the idea of the beard setting to Hugh Jackman. Meanwhile, some others failed to identify the actor and mistook him for Pinarayi Vijayan.

Thilakan entered the film industry in 1979. He made his debut with the film ‘Ulkadal’. Known for his illustrious career in movies, the actor remains a towering presence in the film milieu and is nonpareil when it comes to performance. A Padma Shri winner, Thilakan died on 24 September 2012.
