MOSCOW: President Vladimir Putin ordered the release of Indians working in the Russian army. The action of the Russian President is after considering the special request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is hinted that Modi informed about this during yesterday’s dinner. Putin assured Modi that Russia will take steps to send Indians back home.

Two Indians were killed in Russia's war with Ukraine. Many people have been trapped there as part of the army. All of them can now return home safely. Agents including Indians were brought to the war front by deceiving them in the name of other jobs. Putin congratulated Narendra Modi on being elected as the Prime Minister of India for the third time. The two also discussed India's growing economy.

Russia welcomes Modi

Russia celebrated Prime Minister Modi's visit to their country. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov received Modi, who arrived in the Russian capital Moscow last evening for a two-day visit. Manturov also accompanied Modi in a car to the Carlton Hotel in Moscow, which is very rare. Manturov holds the highest rank among the ten deputy prime ministers. Chinese President Xi Jinping was recently received in Russia by a low-ranking deputy prime minister under Manturov. Through this, Russia once again sent the message that India is their closest partner. This is Modi's first visit to Russia after 2019.

Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin will sign strategic agreements at the 22nd India-Russia Summit today.

Hundreds of people, including Indians, gathered yesterday at the Carlton Hotel to welcome Modi. From the airport to the hotel, Indians lined on both sides of the road to greet him. He will address the Indian community in Moscow today. After laying a wreath at the Military Memorial in the Kremlin, he will visit the Rosatom Exhibition Pavilion in Moscow.
