'Unfortunate'; Minister Mohammed Riyas on Karnataka govt's decision to temporarily end Shirur rescue mission

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Mohammed Riyas said it was 'unfortunate' that the Karnataka government have decided to end the search operation at Shirur. The minister responded that the search was temporarily terminated without officially informing the Kerala government.

“The district collector of Uttara Karnataka called and informed me about the position. The search was conducted despite bad weather the previous day. However, we got information that the weather is better today. However, the government decided to temporarily call off the search operation which is 'unfortunate'.

The decision was reached without comprehending the other feasible measures at hand. The Kerala Chief Minister had written to the Center to explore the possibility further. Karnataka government should withdraw from the new decision. The Kerala government will be providing all assistance for the operation.” said minister Riyas.
