KALPETTA: The principal of Vellarmala GVHSC expressed concern about not having any information about the whereabouts of 22 students. However, no official confirmation has been received in this regard. The school with a total strength of 582 students have classes from 1st standard to the 12th. Bhavya, the principal of the Vellarmala school, said that attempts were made to contact 22 students but it proved futile.

The faculty members of the school have been contacting students from 3.30 am on Tuesday to ensure their safety. At first, 39 children were unavailable and then it plummeted to 22.

One faculty member termed the situation 'pathetic' with no electricity in the area. The principal also raised doubts about the children draining the phone charge due to power shortage. By whatever means, the officials are trying to establish contact with the missing students.
