PARIS: Shooting athletes normally use ear plugs to stop all sounds from pervading; special lenses for precision and will have a perfectly suitable waistcoat or gilet to provide warmth and protection. In Paris, this was the conventional scene until Yusuf Dikec from Turkiye entered the stage.

His composure suggested a no-nonsense man who wore a simple t-shirt emblazoning his country’s name. Yusuf Dikec had no earplugs, no fancy vests nor any lenses. Moreover, his unique pose showed his hands casually placed inside his pockets while aiming for the target. Netizens also found that the 51-year-old aimed with both eyes open. How much swagger can a man be?

Yusuf won the silver medal but showed no élan over his success, as he slowly ambled out of the stage engaging only in a few handshakes. The rare demeanour from Yusuf has now gone viral over the internet and it even prompted the world’s richest man Elon Musk to react.

Many netizens are calling Yusuf the real ‘Gigachad’ for his casual walk onto the stage and taking away the silver medal in a canter. It is rumoured that Yusuf was a former hitman in Turkiye and is now retired from service.

“ For shooting athletes, the Olympics is the biggest stage and a matter of pride while for Yusuf it is just another Thursday” This was one among the comments that filled the internet meme world and while taking another look at how the man worked his way to the silver medal, it does makes sense.
