THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nived Priyadarshan, a native of Pallikkal in Thiruvananthapuram, has developed an app called 'Xplor' that provides bus owners with information on passenger numbers, routes, ticket sales, revenue, and peak hours with just one click. The app eliminates the possibility of conductors siphoning off funds. It can also predict the bus' revenue in coming months. Nived says that he developed this app with the aim of streamlining private bus operations.

Over 150 private buses in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Alappuzha use the app. Nived has also developed an Android machine for printing tickets. Since its launch in April, the app has facilitated ticket sales worth Rs 20 lakh. Nived claims that bus owners have seen a 20% increase in profits.

Nived's inspiration for developing the app stemmed from a personal experience. While travelling on a private bus in Thrissur, he was not issued a ticket despite paying the fare. When he requested the ticket from the conductor, he was met with feigned ignorance. This incident sparked Nived's determination to develop an app that would prevent such incidents and ensure transparency in ticketing. He started the startup in 2020 when he was a third-year computer science student at Mar Baselios College. Father: Biju, Mother: Reena K. Russell.

Bus owners can access information at any time
The app can be installed from the Play Store and Apple Store at any time. Bus owners should create an account and provide details such as the bus's name, route, and number of employees. Passengers would be given tickets through a machine connected to the app. Bus owners can access information at any time through the app.

App for passengers
The app, which will be launched this month, will also provide passengers with information such as congestion on the bus and estimated arrival time at stops. Discussions are underway with KSRTC, Kochi Metro, and Water Metro. The app will soon be launched in 800 private buses in Malappuram and 400 in Thrissur.
