Legal expert, author AG Noorani no more

NEW DELHI: Abdul Ghafoor Majeed Noorani, (A.G. Noorani), the constitutional virtuoso and erudite political commentator passed away on Thursday. He was 94.

Noorani, an alumnus of Mumbai's Government Law College, died at his residence in Mumbai. Throughout his career, Noorani championed the cause of 'free Kashmir' and was omnipresent when it came to supporting Indian Muslims. Noorani held high, the civil liberties and secularism enshrined in the constitution and was the chosen one of former J and K chief minister Sheikh Abdullah and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in the supreme court.

Born on 16 September 1930 in Bombay, Noorani’s immaculate view on politics and his knack for a good yarn always intrigued readers. His articles have appeared in varied magazines and newspapers across the globe. His famous works include 'The Kashmir Question' and 'Trial of Bhagat Singh'.
