The inhuman workload pushing employees to the brink of exhaustion is a new topic of debate in the country. Adding to this comes an anecdote from Bharat Pe founder Ashneer Grover, who quit his job at Earnest & Young.
Ashneer was offered a job at EY, that earned him a monthly salary of Rs 1 crore. However, in just one day at the office, Grover called it a day. He complained of chest pain and left the office, after finding it difficult to balance the stress.
Ashneer Grover:
“None of them had the enthusiasm and energy to work. Most of the employees were mundane and in desultory mode. I realized the horrible work environment waiting for me and pretended chest pain to leave the office the very day I joined them. I reached home and decided not to go back there anymore. Workplaces should create conditions conducive to increasing the efficiency of workers.
There should be competition among employees, to boost work ethics rather than drowsy faces with the pileload of work and daily targets."
This old video of Grover when released faced backlash from elites. People including Harsh Goenka had come out against Grover that day.
