KARUNAGAPPALLY: The 71st birthday of Mata Amritanandamayi was celebrated at Amritapuri. The rituals were simple in the wake of the Wayanad tragedy.

The rituals began at 5 am with Ganapathi Homam. Then took place the Lalitha Sahasranam Archana. Satsang at 7.30 pm by Swami Amritaswaroopananda Puri, vice-chairman of the mutt. Amma came with a smile at 9:00 a.m. followed by Gurupaduka Pooja under the leadership of Swami Amritaswaroopanandapuri. Amma gave her birthday message and led the meditation, bhajans and vishwasanthi prayers.

Mata Amritanandamayi presented the Amrita Keerthi award to poet Prof V Madhusudhanan Nair on the occasion. "Love is the amritasagara that completely merges the universe. When love becomes immortal, it becomes omniscient. That's why this place where Amma sits is Amrutipuri," said Prof V Madhusudhanan Nair.

Spiritual books were also released. At the community wedding of 100 couples, Amma gave varanyamalyam to everyone. Amma then offered darshan to tens of thousands of devotees.

Love comes from fearlessness: Mata Amritanandamayi

In her birthday message, Mata Amritanandamayi said that love is born out of fearlessness. "It is out of love that the bright creations of goodness arise. Selfishness is fear. It will drain our energy and make us weak and helpless. "

"Instead of wars and vengeance, the expression and action of patience, love and compromise must rise. We must be careful not to repeat the tragedies that cause us and our near and dear ones to lose their lives and property in their quest to exploit nature. No one is willing to change their attitude through introspection. "Things are serious. But it's okay," we say. On the one hand they will preach about truth and justice. On the other hand the same values will be blown to the wind. It will be advertised that alcohol and tobacco can cause deadly diseases. Their production will be increased to increase GDP. The survival of the world and nature and the health of the people are more important than that. So there has to be a balance," said Amma.
