Mortal remains of Malayali soldier recovered after 56 years; Thomas Cheriyan was killed in a plane crash

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Indian Army has recovered the remains of Thomas Cheriyan, a soldier from Elanthur, Pathanamthitta, who died in a plane crash 56 years ago. Cheriyan was among those who lost their lives in the Rohtang Pass plane crash.

The Army said that the remains of Thomas Cheriyan were recovered from the snow-capped mountains. The Army informed the Aranmula Police station about the discovery.

AN 12 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh in 1968. Along with the mortal remains of Thomas Cheriyan, the remains of four other persons were also recovered, informed the Army.
