There is no need to say anything about Mohanlal's skill in fight scenes. There are many movies as examples. Mohanlal was also a wrestler in real life. It was that flexibility that often helped him with effortless fight scenes in films.
There is a policeman who competed in wrestling with Lal during his college days. Retired IPS officer KM Antony. He is a champion who not only contested but also defeated Mohanlal. Antony himself is speaking about that competition.
"I was born in Chenappadi village in Kanjirappally taluk of Kottayam district. My primary education happened here. Pre-degree from St. Dominic's College, Kanjirappally and degree from St. Thomas College, Pala. I used to take part in sports competitions. At that time, St. Thomas College, Pala was a college with talented wrestlers at the university level. I got into that team and got trained. I participated in many competitions and won.
In 1980, I was the captain of the wrestling team of the University of Kerala. I was the captain of the match in Banaras. At that time, Mohanlal was also present for the competition. He was studying at MG College, Thiruvananthapuram for his BCom at that time. Nineteen or twenty years old. Mohanlal was also entering in the same weight category as me for the wrestling competition. We competed with each other. I defeated Mohanlal in 36 seconds.
After that, we met again at the state meet in Kannur. Mohanlal came up to me and asked, "If you compete in which weight category, will you win? May I compete in this weight category? ''
I replied that I will only compete in my weight category. "Let's do one thing. Compete in higher weight category," I said. In wrestling, one can compete in a higher-weight category. You can't go to a lower weight category. Mohanlal did the same. He ate food, gained weight and competed in the higher category. So Mohanlal won the first prize in the heavyweight category and I won the first prize in the lightweight category."
