KOCHI: Actor Bala was arrested this morning at his residence in Palarivattam by the Kadavanthra police following a complaint filed by his ex-wife. The arrest stems from allegations that Bala defamed her through social media, with the involvement of their daughter in his comments reportedly contributing to the charges. In addition to the defamation case, the Juvenile Justice Department has also filed a separate case against the actor.
Bala’s manager Rajesh and his friend Ananthakrishnan are also named as co-accused in the case. Tensions between Bala and his ex-wife escalated after their daughter posted a video on social media accusing her father of repeatedly harassing her mother. In the video, the daughter also alleged that Bala once threw a bottle at her. Bala's subsequent response further fuelled the conflict, with their former driver later publicly supporting the ex-wife’s claims.
The ex-wife has made several serious accusations against Bala, alleging that after their marriage, he cut off her contact with her family by destroying her phone. She also claimed that Bala would invite friends over for drinking sessions, forcing her to serve them late into the night. If she questioned anything, she said, he would beat her severely, leaving her bleeding. The ex-wife further accused Bala of engaging in marital rape, unnatural sex and other forms of sexual abuse.
These allegations were previously hinted at by the ex-wife’s personal assistant through social media, who also claimed that Bala’s second wife faced similar situation after their marriage.
