THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state is likely to receive heavy rainfall today. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts today. These districts are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
Isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts are likely to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds with speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour in the next three hours. IMD also said that isolated places in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts are likely to receive light rain in the coming hours.
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across the state in the coming days, with orange and yellow alerts issued in multiple districts for the days ahead.
