NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a 44-year-old man was shot dead in front of his 15-year-old son. The incident took place in Sadar Bazar, New Delhi. The deceased have been identified as Akash Sharma (44) and his nephew Rishabh Sharma (16). The murder was allegedly committed on the instructions of a 17-year-old relative, who had a financial dispute with Akash. The police have arrested the 17-year-old. According to the police, the teenager had paid and contracted a gunman to kill Akash.
A video of the incident has surfaced. On Diwali day, Akash, his son Krish, and nephew Rishab were bursting crackers outside their Delhi home on a narrow road when the 17-year-old relative arrived at the spot on a two-wheeler. The video shows a gunman opening fire at Akash moments after the relative touched Akash's feet as a sign of respect. The assailant fired five shots at Akash.
Akash's son was also injured in the attack. The assailant shot at Rishab as he was chasing him. The 17-year-old accused had lent Rs 70,000 to Akash a month ago. Akash's refusal to return the money or answer the phone calls led to the killing. Police say the accused had planned the murder two weeks ago.
