TEHRAN: Two days have passed since the missing of a woman who stripped her dress to protest against the strict dress code in Iran. There is still no update on the whereabouts of the student even two days after her arrest. Many saw visuals of the young woman being taken into a car for stripping to underwear in front of Tehran University.
The footage of the student's protest was widely circulated on social media. While she was strutting through the pathway, some people covered her with civilian clothes and took her inside a car. It was the last the world saw of her. Some reports tell the girl as Ahoo Dariye, a student of Islamic Azad University in Tehran.
The woman stripped to her innerwear and walked through the university in protest against the fierce dress code in the country. At the same time, the university explained about the police investigation which purportedly said the protestor suffered from mental imbalance. Some reports say the protestor is a mother of 2 children and lives separately from her partner.
In 2022, widespread protests erupted in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurdish woman who was arrested for allegedly violating the dress code. Thousands were arrested and more than 500 protesters were killed in the melee.
