'That actress was the reason for marriage with Mohanlal, I used to sent him give cards a day'

Malayalees have always cherished Mohanlal as one of their favorite actors and they’re often keen to know about his life and family. Recently, in an interview on a popular YouTube channel, Suchitra Mohanlal shared insights into her relationship with Mohanlal, revealing the story of their courtship and marriage.

"I first met Chettan in Thiruvananthapuram," Suchitra reminisced. She explained that her family was close to producer Murugan uncle’s family and she happened to meet Mohanlal during one of her visits to Thiruvananthapuram for Murugan uncle's wedding. "Chettan was wearing a maroon shirt that day," she recalled fondly.

The first film she saw featuring Mohanlal was 'Manjil Virinja Pookkal'. "I didn’t like him at all initially," she admitted. However, seeing him in the movie made her realize his extraordinary acting talent. At home, his rumored relationships were humorously discussed in code as “SKP” (Sundara Kuttappan).

When her family started discussing potential suitors for her, Suchitra made it clear that she wanted to marry Mohanlal. Since actress Sukumari, a family friend, frequently acted alongside Mohanlal, Suchitra asked her family if Sukumari could help make the introduction.

The couple eventually met and their relationship blossomed into love. Suchitra fondly recalled sending him anonymous cards during their courtship. "I used to buy and send him cards without signing my name," she shared. Though Mohanlal initially had no idea who was behind the gesture, he eventually discovered it was Suchitra. "I don’t know how he found out," she laughed, adding that at times she would send as many as five cards a day.
