Sree Narayana Gurudevan was the vishwa mahaguru who recited the love mantra "all religions are one" to the world. When the group led by Mathadhipati Swami Satchidananda from Sivagiri, the eternal spirit temple of Gurudeva, meets Pope Francis, whom Christians consider to be the representative of God, it will become a historic moment. This auspicious day has the highest scope and illumination of the vision and actions envisioned by Gurudeva for world peace and tranquillity. This evangelistic moment, which brings pride and happiness to Sree Narayana Guru's followers and Christians all over the world, brings new hope and direction to the whole of mankind. The world is waiting to listen to Pope Francis' blessing sermon today.
Advaita Ashrama on the banks of Periyar is blooming after a century. It was here that Sree Narayana Guru convened Asia's first all-religion conference on the occasion of Shivaratri in 1924. The All-Religion Conference and the World Parliament of Religions are being held in the Vatican on the centenary of that conference. People representing different religions from 15 countries are participating in it.
The main reason for the wars and ethnic conflicts that are taking place today in different parts of the world is the greed to argue and win. Mahaguru tried to uproot those decaying thoughts from their roots with mind, speech and action till he attained samadhi. It was written at the entrance of the conference that it was not to argue and win, but to know and to inform. The Guru understood that the reason for unrest, untouchability and uneasiness was a lack of knowledge and the reluctance to know more.
There is no shortage of religious and spiritual leaders in the world, but the views of some of them have windows that open in many directions. What they see through it is often their own religious beliefs and principles. Sree Narayana Guru stands out there too. He had a window of spirituality through which only one world, one God, one religion— could be seen. When an all-religion conference is being held in the Vatican, the guru's 'Anukambadhashakam' also assumes significance.
It is believed that this dhashakam was written in the days when the idea of an all-religion conference was formed in Aluva.
"Purushaakruthi poonda daivamo?
Naradivyaakruthi poonda dharmmamo?
Parameshapavithra puthrano?
Karunaavaan nabi mutthurathnamo? "
Christ, Krishna and the merciful Muthunabi can be seen in these lines. When representatives of all religions gather at the Vatican, 'Anukambadhashakam' also acquires an international status. The greatest blindness is narrow religious consciousness and caste pride. Some people cannot see even an elephant in front of their eyes because of this. Then how can they see the God that resides in their minds? How can they love human beings of diverse looks and minds?
Through the great message of one caste, one religion, and one god, the guru eliminated the presumptuous roles of religion. The guru knocked down many caste identities. Love was what the Guru enshrined and worshipped in the concept of a God. Guru's karmic series was for the welfare and liberation of brotherhood. The life of Christ, the embodiment of love, was also for the same until he was crucified.
The words and deeds of Gurudeva, who was born in Chempazhanthi and entered the Karma temple after performing penance at Maruvamala and Aruvippuram, were aimed at the liberation and well-being of the poor. Christ became the guru's favourite god in this regard. The all-religion conference held at the Vatican is special. In the Vatican, the world heard the Italian singing of 'Daivadasakam', which has been translated into more than 100 languages. At the same time, the guru's vision and fragrance spread over the Vatican hills. The Sivagiri Mutt, Mathadhipati Swami Satchidananda, Swami Shubhangananda, Swami Ritambharananda, Swami Vishalananda, Swami Asanganandagiri and Swami Veereshwarananda, the chief organizer of this initiative, also deserve appreciation and praise for organizing such an all-religion conference and the World Religious Parliament at the Vatican, the spiritual centre of divine-human love, in the memory of Gurudeva.
Kerala Kaumudi has been working for the propagation of Gurudeva's message, the welfare of the needy and religious fraternity for the past 113 years, since the time when the communication and distribution links were very limited. Our best wishes to its coachman and participants, especially Pope Francis, who is offering his blessings.
