NEW DELHI: After six consecutive days of deadlock, the Union government and the opposition reached an agreement to end the Parliament logjam and continue smooth function from Tuesday. The decision was taken at an all-party meeting held on Monday in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Accepting the opposition's request, the central government has decided to discuss topics related to the constitution and the UP Sambhal issue in the parliament.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed that the session will be held till 20th of this month. Taking into account the 75th anniversary of the approval of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly, the discussion will be held in Lok Sabha on 13 and 14 and in Rajya Sabha on 16 and 17. Sambhal and Bangladesh issues will be discussed on Tuesday while External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to make remarks on the China issue in parliament.
On Monday, both Houses were deadlocked for the sixth day in a row amid uproar over the Adani scam and management issues. The Rajya Sabha adjourned early in the morning. The Coastal Shipping Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha, which aims to promote inland freight transport.
