LUCKNOW: Three people were injured after a car fell into a canal in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, the driver was using Google Maps and took a shortcut, which led to the accident. The group was travelling from Bareilly to Pilibhit when the incident occurred.
The group was travelling through a shortcut shown by Google Maps near Kalapur village when the car fell into the canal. Soon after witnessing the incident, the locals immediately informed the police. Three people were rescued with minor injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
"The car involved in the accident was registered in Haryana. The occupants were travelling through a shortcut shown by Google Maps. Although they followed the route suggested by Google Maps, the car fell into the canal. The car was pulled out with the help of a crane," City Police Superintendent Manush Pareek said.
Incidentally, this is the second such accident to occur in the district within a span of 10 days. On November 24, three people had died after their car overturned and fell into a river from an under-construction bridge. They too were traveling through a shortcut shown by Google Maps.
