KASARAGOD: More details have emerged in the murder of expatriate businessman Abdul Gafoor Haji (55) of Pallikkara Poochakkad, Kasaragod. The investigation team has found that the gold stolen from Abdul Gafoor was used by the accused for a luxurious life and land deals.

The gold was sold to various jewelers within and outside the district. Therefore, the investigation will be extended beyond Kasaragod. Abdul Gafoor's relatives had alleged that the accused had links in Karnataka as well.

In the case, the witch who goes to houses and performs witchcraft rituals, K.H. Shameena alias Jinnumma (38), a native of Mangad Koolikunnu in Uduma Meethale, her husband TM Ubaid alias Uwais (32), a native of National Nagar in Uliyathaduka and their assistants Asnifa (36) of Mukood Jeelani Nagar in Pallikkara Keekkan and Ayesha (43) of Madhur Kollia House, were arrested by the Crime Branch the other day.

Jinnumma has been accused in cases before. Years ago, she had trapped an expatriate in a honeytrap and taken away jewelry and money. She had been in jail for two weeks at that time. Gafoor's murder took place on April 14, 2023. The murder was carried out to snatch 596 pawns from Gafoor's house.

The first thing they did was to make him believe that money could be doubled through magic. The accused told Ghafoor to be alone and wear special clothes while performing the spell. So he sent his wife and daughter to a relative's house. When the family returned the next day, they found him dead.
