KOZHIKODE: One has been arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old youth while filming a car chasing reel. The arrested is Zabid Rahman of Manjeri, who was driving the Benz car that caused the accident. The Motor Vehicles Department has directed to suspend Zabid's license. There is also an instruction to cancel the vehicle's RC.
The dead is T K Alwin, a videographer and only son of Suresh of Kadameri Velath Thazhe Kuni Nedunchalil and Bindu. The accident occurred near the police station on Kozhikode Beach Road at around 7:30 am yesterday. Alwin was filming a chasing video of Defender and Benz for a private company in Kozhikode by standing in the middle of the road. The speeding car lost control and hit Alwin. Though he was taken to a nearby private hospital, he died at around 11.30 am.
Following the accident, the police took into custody the drivers of the cars, Zabid Rahman from Manjeri and Muhammed Rabees from Edacheri yesterday itself.
The incident happened when Alwin was shooting a promotional video for a private automobile company where he had worked earlier. Alwin, who is also a cinematographer, had shot chasing reels of vehicles before. Alwin, who was in the Gulf for work, returned home a week ago. Alwin had undergone a kidney operation two years ago. He reached home as part of his medical check-up every six months.
