CHENNAI: Style Mannan Rajinikanth is always the superstar for movie lovers. Even at the age of 74, that status has not been shaken. Today is Rajinikanth's birthday. Ahead of the superstar's birthday celebrations, a fan has installed a new statue of Rajinikanth at Arulmigu Srirajani Temple in Madurai Thirumangalam. The three feet tall and 300 kg statue of Rajinikanth was unveiled on Wednesday, the day before his birthday.

This die-hard fan of Rajinikanth is Karthik, a retired army officer. Karthik also oversees the temple. The temple started as a place for fans to pay their respects to the superstar. For the past four years, Karthik has been performing special prayers and pujas at the temple.

The new statue was installed in place of the earlier one. The statue is made in the shape of the character from Rajini's movie 'Mappillai'. As part of the birthday celebration, special pujas and abhishekam were held in the temple. Karthik says that Rajinikanth knows about the temple and he informed that he will visit the temple some day. Karthik added that he is looking forward to it.
