DINDIGUL: In a tragic incident, seven people, including a three-year-old boy, were killed after a massive fire broke out at a private hospital in Dindigul in Tamil Nadu. According to reports, six people are trapped inside a lift in the hospital.
The fire broke out at a hospital, which has facilities for treating more than 100 patients. The rescue operations are currently underway. More fire forces and ambulances have been deployed to the site to carry out the rescue efforts. The fire has still not been brought under control. A large number of people were inside the hospital when the fire broke out. Efforts are underway to evacuate those trapped inside. Over 50 ambulances have been deployed to the hospital.
The fire initially broke out on the ground floor of the four-storeyed hospital building. The cause of the fire is not yet clear. Flames and smoke were seen rising from the lower floor to the upper levels. Some patients were moved to nearby hospitals. Among the seven deceased, three are women. Reports indicate that 20 people sustained burn injuries. Rescue operations are ongoing, with patients being evacuated and transferred to other hospitals.
