MOSCOW: Ukraine carried out a drone attack in Russia, modelled after the 9/11 terror attack by Al-Qaeda on the World Trade Center in America. The attack targeted multi-story buildings in the city of Kazan on Saturday. Drones carrying explosives crashed into the buildings, causing fires. However, no casualties were reported.
Following the drone attack, Kazan airport was shut down temporarily, and public gatherings in the city have been prohibited for Sunday. Local authorities reported that eight drones targeted the city, six of which hit residential buildings. One drone struck an industrial area, and another was shot down over a river. Kazan is located 800 kilometres east of Moscow.
Meanwhile, on Friday night, a Ukrainian attack using U.S.-made missiles in the border area of Kursk, Russia, killed six people, including a child. In retaliation, Russia conducted a drone strike targeting Kharkiv in Ukraine.
