PALAKKAD: A complaint reached police about a few people disrupting a Christmas celebration at a school in Palakkad. Taking note of the case, police arrested three Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists. The incident took place in Nalleppilly government school in Palakkad.

A case under the non-bailable section was registered against Vadakkanthara K Anilkumar, Manamkutty Karutedathkalam Sushasanan and Thekkumuri Velayudhan, all natives of Nalleppilly. Anil Kumar is the District Secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Velayudhan is the President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Panchayat Committee. V Sushasanan is the Bajrang Dal District Coordinator.

The case comes under the sections of obstructing the administration works, uttering obscenities in a manner that fosters religious rivalry and trespassing. The incident happened two days back when students and teachers were dressed up as Santa Claus to cut the Christmas cake. The three trespassed into the school and abused the headmistress and teachers. They demanded the school celebrate Sri Krishna Jayanti instead of Christmas.

Chittoor police arrested the accused based on the complaint of school teachers and PTA officials. In the complaint, it is said that the trio visited the school during the start of the celebrations and even threatened the children.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the incident, DYFI will organize a friendly Christmas message program in the area.
