KOCHI: India’s elite flight carrier Air India became the first airline in the country to provide free Wi-Fi service in-flight. Tata Group-owned Air India will offer in-flight Wi-Fi on select Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9 and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Available at over 10,000 feet, the service will work on multiple devices running on iOS and Android platforms at the same time. Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, says that the free Wi-Fi service will not only make flying fun but also support business operations. Connectivity experience will depend on various technical factors such as satellite connectivity, bandwidth usage, flight routes and government regulations. Air India plans to extend this service to all its aircraft in a phased manner.
