KOTTAYAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his remark against removing shirts in temples. Nair termed it as wrong. He said that each temple has its own belief. Nair criticized the chief minister saying that he should not support such matters. He said this while addressing the Mannam Jayanthi celebrations in Perunna.

‘Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's remark against removing shirt in temples is wrong. Why is he saying to change the customs that have been following for ages? One can wear shirts in Sabarimala for darshan. Each temple has their own beliefs. Chief minister should not have supported in such matters. No one interferes with the customs of Christians and Muslims. Does Sivagiri or the chief minister have the guts to criticize these practices? Mannath Padmanabhan has done social reform long ago. You decide and implement. Our decisions are like this,' he clarified.

Sukumaran Nair said Ramesh Chennithala MLA is suitable to inaugurate Mannam Jayanthi celebrations. He added that Chennithala was not invited as a congressman. Chennithala is reaching NSS headquarters in Perunna after 11 years. ‘The person invited first as inaugurator could not make it. A more suitable person has now been found. Did not think that could gain from his politics. Chennithala is a familiar face of this soil since childhood,' he said.
