Renowned singer KG Markose said that even the great Yesudas had to face a lot of neglect in the early days of his career. Speaking about the struggles faced by singers in their early days, Markose said that Yesudas had faced several challenges and rejections early in his career. He said that the producers and the directors of that time gave chances only to those close to them.
Markose's words
"It was the time when Yesudas sir was a newcomer in the music industry. PB Sreenivasan and Kamukara Purushothaman were the prominent singers of that time. Yesudas's voice was very different from theirs. However, nobody was ready to give him a chance. Only Devarajan master supported him then. One day, Devarajan master recommended Yesudas's name to producer Kunchacko and asked him to give him a chance in their next film. But Kunchacko said, 'No need for a new singer. We can use our regular singers.' It is said that master played a communal card when Kunchacko didn’t listen to him even after being told two or three times. Master told him 'This new guy is a Christian. Give him at least one song considering that.'"
