MALAPPURAM: PV Anvar MLA said that he is with the UDF on popular issues. He said that it is up to the UDF to decide whether he should be included in the front. Speaking to the media, Anvar said that the UDF should take up issues of the hilly regions in the state.
He also said that the state government's new Forest Amendment Bill is highly dangerous. He said that the bill gives forest department officials excessive powers, ten times more than what they currently have.
"Wildlife attacks have become a common occurrence in Kerala. The government is trying to portray it as a natural phenomenon of nature. Until now, the government has maintained that it is the central forest law, and they have no authority to intervene. Following this, they have brought an amendment to the Kerala Forest Act. A political and social situation is being created in Kerala that could wipe out humanity entirely. That is why I am taking forward this issue with such urgency," Anvar said.
"The horrors of the Forest Amendment Bill are yet to be understood. Forest officials will turn into anti-social elements and goons. This is the intervention of an international lobby. A strong protest will be staged against this law. Why hasn’t the forest minister been replaced? If the minister is replaced, the Forest Amendment Bill cannot be passed. This is precisely why Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has not replaced AK Saseendran," alleged PV Anwar.
