However, after the release of the teaser, director Nithin Renji Panicker has come out criticizing the film's director Geethu Mohandas. Nithin alleges that Geethu Mohandas has changed her stance on misogyny. His criticism was based on the scenes from the teaser of Toxic.

Geethu Mohandas was also present on the same stage when actress Parvathy Thiruvothu made serious criticism about Nithin Renji Panicker's movie Kasaba. It was Geethu Mohandas who asked Parvathy to open up about everything. Nithin, who is also the son of actor, director and screenwriter Ranji Panicker, criticized the director, pointing this out.

Nithin took a sarcastic jibe about the scenes in Toxic that " it is a visual representation of political correctness where no trace of anti-feminism, no male gaze objectifying the female body, and no male pride which was seen in Kasaba can be found." His expression was through social media. He shared his post with the hashtag 'Toxic'.
